MFAA Shoot: XSpot Archery

Wendy, Emma, and I shot the MFAA shoot today (11/28/21) and it was fun. It’s our third MFAA shoot in a row, the first two being at Lunenberg Sportmen’s Club and Pequoig Bowman’s Club (in Athol, MA), so I thought I’d start writing about each spot.

It’s a great place and is in Attleboro, MA, near the MA/RI state line. Here it is from the outside:

When walking in the door, you immediately find yourself in the archery range portion of the store. In this case, the store was closed to the public because of the MFAA shoot, hence a lot of people shooting:

Walk into the store and past the range and you are in the main shop:

It’s a compound archer’s dream!

Shooting was good. For this particular MFAA event it was a ”300”, which means we used NFAA target faces and shot twelve ends of five arrows each.

From a shooter’s perspective, the range looks like this:

You’ll note the screen on the ceiling. They have cameras pointed at each set of targets so you can see a closeup view of how your arrows are looking on the target while you shoot.

It’s a tight space inside, without a lot of room for shooters and spectators behind the line, but on the other hand it brings everyone together. This shoot was overwhelmingly shot by compound archers, and it was tight when setting up our barebows. We wondered where we’d put our bows when waiting to shoot, and then we noticed some people hanging their’s from the ceiling by the shooting line:

Was a lot of fun and another great event to simulate the archery tournament experience!
