Following is a list of important links, some of them in particular for archers in the Massachusetts and New Hampshire area.
USA Archery
USA Archery Login: You need to have a USA Archery membership if you want to earn archery pins in our On Site Archery class. It’s also where you’ll sign up for tournaments most of the time. If there is more than one member of your family shooting, you can associate each person’s account with a single ”parent” account so that you can manage all the accounts from a parental account (instead of having to log in to each account, for example, to register for tournaments).
NFAA
NFAA (National Field Archery Association) Login: You can do MFAA shoots (the Massachusetts extension of the NFAA) without an NFAA membership, but to get your scores registered in the results you need to be a member. If you have more than one family member that shoots, you may want to set up a ”Family” account by first registering a parent as a ”Massachusetts Adult Family HOH”. From here you can add members to the family.
SAAM
State Archery Association of Massachusetts (SAAM). This is where you’ll find most tournaments and shoots in MA and NH. Use the Calendar link to find them, and use the Results link to look up past tournament results. If you want to find the results of a very recent tournament, you have to click the Results link twice, otherwise simply click on the year you’re interested in.
MFAA shoots listed in the above calendar link are like tournaments but, especially for those that tend to get stressed out at tournaments, are a little less formal and therefore good practice for tournaments. For example, at an MFAA shoot you can show up at any time between the published hours, walk in, and shoot 60 arrows. If others are already there shooting it’s fine—you simply join in and start shooting. You can even take a break whenever you want to. At a tournament, you have to start when everyone else starts, and you have to continue shooting until the round is over. MFAA shoots are held at various locations in Massachusetts.
Equipment
Lancaster Archery Supply: Where we buy most of our equipment.
Ace Archers: A great, local store where you can pick up some equipment, take a lesson, do some shooting, etc. Ace also hosts tournaments.
Shooting
Woburn Sportsmen’s Association: Many On Site Archery members belong to this club. They have an indoor and outdoor archery range and you can shoot year round here, pretty much 24/7. If one adult in your family becomes a member, any members of his/her immediate family can visit with the member, unlimited.
Knowledge
Kisik Lee’s The Total Archer: Kisik Lee coached the Korean Olympic Archery Team, was the Australian Institute of Sport Head Coach, and now is the USA Olympic Archery Team Head Coach.
Jake Kaminski’s YouTube Channel: Jake is a two-time olympian silver medalist in team archery, and is great at analyzing details and breaking them down for his viewers. Because of his vast experience shooting with the USA Olympic Archery Team, he’s got a lot of information to share that is hard to find elsewhere. He’s also great at discussing equipment and tricks to make it work in the easiest and best ways possible.
Forums
Archery Talk: A few of my favorite posters in here are Limbwalker (John Magera) for his Olympic experience and overall archery wisdom, Mr. Roboto for his understanding of physics, and Vittorio (Vittorio Frangilli, designer of all Gillo risers).
Trad Talk: Very similar to archery talk, along with some of the very same contributors.
Videos
Ki Bo Bae: In regards to beautiful, effortless-looking form, she may be my favorite.
